Andover Residents Perform in Pentucket Players' Sunset Boulevard

  • October 25, 2012

The non-profit group Pentucket Players, Inc. is proud to announce that tickets are on sale now for the debut New England community theater production of the Broadway musical Sunset Boulevard. Based on the 1950 movie of the same title, Andrew Lloyd Webber brings this captivating story to life in his seven-time Tony Award winning musical.

Sunset Boulevard features North Andover resident April Foley in the role of Norma Desmond. Foley is well known on the Pentucket Players’ stage, having played such roles as Marian in The Music Man, Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, Solange in Follies, and Glinda in The Wizard of Oz.   She teaches private voice lessons in her North Andover studio, and is thrilled to be able to add Sunset Boulevard to her lengthy resume.

Foley's character Norma Desmond is a silent movie star desperate to make a return to the screen. Fate brings an unknown screenwriter, Joe Gillis, into her life. They begin to rely on each other for much more than the rewriting of her screenplay. Unexpected love and tragedy ensue. Tickets may be purchased for matinee and evening shows at the beautiful Rogers Performing Arts Center at Merrimack College running from November 16th to November 24th.

Cast members from Andover include Michael Levy and Jon Brody.

Appearing in ensemble and supporting roles are Dale Cripe and Amy McCorkle of North Andover, and Kerry Molloy, Meghan Lawton, and Marisa Potts of Methuen. Haverhill cast members include Egan Davis, Tracey Dorr, Janet Hickey, Holly McGrath, Jessica Woodard, and Beth Tilden.

Other featured cast members include, local favorite Guy “Terry” Kelley as Max Von Mayerling, Molly Buccini as Betty Schaefer, Jeff Bowden as Artie Green, and Greg Barletta as Sheldrake. The show is produced by Marie Bliven and directed by John R. Buzzell, with musical direction by Alan Freedman and choreography by Annemarie LaTulip.
