AHS Wrestlers Come Up Short In Tewksbury

Andover loses matches to Tewksbury, Methuen and Dracut

 

It was a tough day on the mats for the Andover High wrestling team as coach Jamie Durkin's Golden Warriors came up empty in a quad meet at Tewksbury.

Andover fell just short against Tewksbury, losing 42-40 after Tewksbury's Dan Altavesta pinned Shiv Chawla in the final match of the day.

Tack Riley won by fall at 103 pounds for Andover, and James Burke got a pin in 1:36 at 112. At 119, Brett Welch won by fall in 1:06 and Mike Twari won a major decision (14-6) at 125.

Tito Brito got a third period pin at 140 pounds and Caleb Lynch pinned Tewksbury's Scott Thurlow in 2:21 at 145. David Ortiz pinned Andrew Conserva to get AHS the win in the 215-pound class.

Coach Durkin was unable to provide scores for the matches against Methuen and Dracut.

Durkin also declined the opportunity to comment on his team's performance Saturday.
