Firefighters Attack House Fire on Hampton Road Saturday Night
Andover firefighters made an "aggressive attack" on a Hampton Road house fire Saturday night and fought the blaze from inside the home.
The Andover Fire Department responded to a one-alarm house fire at 9 Hampton Road at around 10 p.m. Saturday night.
Andover Fire Deputy Cheif Al Deldotto said fire crews contained the basement fire in roughly a half hour after arriving at the scene.
The home was occupied at the time of the fire but the occupants, which included a husband, wife, daughter and dog, were able to safey exit the home without injury. They are currently staying with neighbors.
Deldotto said firefighters made an "aggressive interior attack" with multiple hoses when first arriving at the home and were able to contain the fire to the basement.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation but it is believed to be accidental.
The home sustained fire and smoke damage in the basement and minor smoke damage throughout the house. Deldotto said water damage was also minimal.
He estimated damage in the tens of thousands of dollars.
A firefighter sustained minor injury, a strain, while opening a fire hydrant. No other injuries were reported.
Fire crews left the scene at around midnight.
