Andover firefighters responded to a basement fire at 3 Lovejoy Road at roughly 5:40 p.m. Friday evening. The fire, officials said, was contained in about a half hour.

Fire officials say the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Nobody was reported injured in the blaze.

The house sustained fire and smoke damage in the basement and smoke damage in the first floor.

Lawrence and Tewksbury Fire Departments covered the station while Andover crews were out battling the fire.
