Park Street Hair Salon Moves Inside Indra Salon
When Salon Navid's lease was up on Park Street, the owner looked for a new location.
This past fall, Navid Nickpour, owner of Salon Navid moved her business inside Indra Salon, 8 Main Street. Salon Navid now joins Coco Collection and Chill Spa and Indra in sharing the 4600 square feet space.
Andover resident Nickpour said she decided to leave 63 Park Street when her lease was up, and she began looking for more affordable space. “Being here helps each other out. It doesn’t make much sense to spend $100,00 to start up in a new location when I can be in this beautiful space,” she explained.
The salon has 4 stylists including Nickpour, and they all take pride in providing personal service. “We like to treat people as individuals, and making people feel better about themselves is rewarding to us,” she said.
Nickpour moved here from Iran when she was 23 years old. Her brothers attended school, and now her parents are here as well.
She said she liked styling hair since she was a little girl. She pointed out, “All girls start out practicing with their Barbie’s doll's hair.”
But Nickpour dreamed in pursing it as a profession, and now she has over 20 years of experience beginning when she lived in Iran.
She described Iranian hair salons as social gathering places for women. That is why her salon emphasizes a personal relationship with each client.
Soon after moving to Andover, Nickpour worked as a stylist for Marissa Michaels. Through the years, she was as an educator for Bumble and Bumble products, a stylist at other salons until finally opening up her own place on Park Street, she explained.
Salon Navid carries Rene Futerer hair products, and uses Goldwell for color. “We use all these products because they deliver what they promise. No one else in the Merrimack Valley sells Rene Futerer,” she said.
She said she is always learning about new techniques and products that are best for her clients
Living in town, Nickpour always runs into her clients. “I want to be able to look them in the eye to know that are happy with the way they look. It is important to maintain that relationship with them,” she explained.
She said she is in the process of updating her website. She does have a Facebook page.
Salon Navid is open Wednesday-Saturday, and the phone number is 978-470-4704. Nickpour can also be reached by email, navid@salonnavid.com.
