PHOTOS: Andover's Vacant Store Fronts
Take a look at a photo gallery of various vacancies throughout town. Let us know in the comments what you would like to see in these spots.
In the normal ebb and flow of local business turnover, Andover will see multiple businesses either moving or closing down each year. Currently, there are at least eight vacant retail units in Andover center and Shawsheen Village. Below are the locations and the names of the former establishments.
- Railroad Street, Moor and Mountain
- North Main Street, Tuesday Morning
- North Main Street, Marshalls (who moved to Winthrop Plaza in Lawrence)
- Main Street, Stride Rite
- Main Street, Chic Consignment (who moved next door)
- Main Street, J.L. Coombs
- Park Street, Yama Japanese Restaurant
- Park Street, Domino's Pizza (who moved to another unit on Park Street)
There are also two vacant units that will soon be occupied by two new businesses. They are the Indian Bistro, which is moving into a unit in Shawsheen Plaza (formerly Cardsmart), and Sal's Pizza, which is moving into a unit on Park Street (formerly Rugged Bear).

You completely overlooked all the vacant spaces at the Old Andover Village: Coco Collection (moved to Indra), General Goods, Bella Beads, Groomingdales, Andover Auto School (moved to Dundee Park), Colpitts Travel, Little LuLu & Dot, etc., etc...

Given the number of shuttered store fronts these days, I think they just ran out of film...

Thanks Carla. There's significant transition going on at Olde Andover Village so I decided to leave it out of this feature. But, you're right, it definitely deserves a mention!

what is going into Olde Andover Village? is it true that it will be a chain type restaurant?

What are the last two digits of the phone number for the sign in the window at Chic Consignment's former location? Not sure if it was cut off intentionally to avoid somewhat of product placement.

Chichi, we're actually working on something for Olde Andover Village and we hope to run it sometime in the next week or so.
Sabrina, that was on accident. I believe the sign is still there so you can go check it out yourself. I'll make a note of it when I head into town tomorrow and post it in this comments thread if your're still interested.

No problem. I go to school down the street from there so I don't mind. Thanks

Day and Night is vacant too. I thought I saw a sign on the on Chic Con. place that a bakery was going in there?? Now the sign is covered up.
