5th Annual Dog Day Festival
Calling on all dogs of the Andovers! On Sunday, June 10th from 10am-4pm Treadwell’s Ice Cream at Smolak Farms will be hosting the 5th Annual Dog Day Festival!
The entire day is devoted to man's best friend with nail trimmings, pet photography, frisbee demos, massages, training tips and more. The event is held to raise money for the MSPCA at Nevins Farm in Methuen in support of their wonderful efforts of helping animals of all shapes and sizes.
The Annual Dog Day Festival was created five years ago by Treadwell’s co-owner, Jackie Fitzgerald, in loving memory of her Golden Retriever, Bailey. When Bailey passed away in 2007, Jackie set up a fund at the MSPCA in memory of her pup called Angels for Animals. The fund focuses on helping animals that need critical care when finances are unavailable. Donations had always been accepted at Treadwell’s by means of their donation box or by buying an ice cream doggie dish called Bailey’s Legacy. However, once Treadwell’s moved to their location at Smolak Farms, Jackie decided that the best way to raise money in honor of Bailey was with a festival on the farm that was dedicated to the dogs and benefitted the organization that was so near and dear to her heart. Hence, the Dog Day Festival!
The event is a great time for the entire family, including leashed four-legged members! It will include hayrides, raffles, games, food, and more. Oh and of course, lots of ice cream! There will also be many dog friendly vendors to provide information and services:
