While Andover schools held an in-service day on Wednesday, Oct. 17,

the DCS office offered a fun and educational program called Monster Sock
Creatures for kids age 6-12 to spend their afternoon off. The children learned
sewing techniques and basic design concepts while creating a one of a kind
creature to take home.  The two hour instructional program took place at
Old Town Hall and was enjoyed by 14 boys and girls.

Similar upcoming programs for youngsters include “Amusement Park Rides” for ages 8-12 on Tuesday, November 6^th (Inservice day) and “ATV & Suma Wrester”

Amusement Park Rides

Ages 8-12

What’s more fun than a day at the amusement
Park?  Have fun while learning simple
engineering concepts as we construct a Roller Coaster and then watch as the
coaster cars go up and down steep inclines and through thrilling loops. Help
design and build a Ferris Wheel, Octopus Whirl, 
and other rides. We’ll have our own great adventure working, learning,
and having fun! Bring a lunch, snack, and beverage.

ATV & Sumo Wrestler

Ages 7-12

Build and take home your very own ATV that
travels through rough terrain overcoming obstacles in its path. Timed races
will add excitement to an already fun day! 
On day two you’ll design and build a Sumo Wrestler robot you control.
More fun at the end of day will be a battle box event. Loads of fun and
education. Bring a lunch, snack, and beverage each day.
