Former Lawrence Mayor Joins Vispoli for Senate
Andover, MA … Today Alex Vispoli, Republican candidate for the State Senate in the Second Essex and Middlesex district, proudly announced that former Lawrence Mayor Mike Sullivan has endorsed his candidacy.
“I have been able to work with Alex Vispoli. He has served the people of Andover honorably on the Board of Selectmen,” said Sullivan. “Right now people are hurting out there. They need jobs and economic security. As both a family man and businessman, Alex understands this. He has the private sector business experience we need to help turn around our economy. We need to grow jobs and Alex is the only candidate with the appropriate background.”
“I am pleased to have the support of Mike Sullivan. He will be able to help us win Lawrence. His endorsement shows that we have growing momentum,” said Vispoli.
“Alex is the best person to help Lawrence during these difficult times. Alex will be proactive in public saftey and reviving the local economy. Moreover, he will be above reproach,” added Sullivan.
Vispoli has been running a strong grassroots campaign by going door to door. Voters have been overwhelmingly responded to his message.
Vispoli was first elected to the Andover Board of Selectmen in 2004. On the board, he has led initiatives including: consolidation of Andover’s IT organization and infrastructure, creation of the Andover Economic Development Council, I93 proposed interchange project, opening the Old Town Hall on Saturday mornings, creation of Andover’s Design Review Board, reduction in Town owned vehicles, and annual citizens mid – year review for major project updates, regionalization opportunities with surrounding towns – including North Andover shared DPW resource.
Vispoli was also elected the Massachusetts Municipal Association (MMA) Board of Directors and the Massachusetts Selectmen’s Association (MSA) Board of Directors in 2011. He is currently the District 2 Representative (Essex and Middlesex Counties) for the MSA. He is a member of the Governor’s Local Government Advisory Commission.
Professionally, Vispoli has been in the information technology business for 25 years. He currently holds the position of Vice President for a Boston-based technology company. Most importantly, Vispoli is a devoted husband and father of 4 children.
