Trott said that this Lady Slipper sits in a location where a colony has thrived for years.
Those at the "Crafts in the Park" event in Andover center were worried when ominous clouds hovered over them on Saturday afternoon. Despite the signs of an imminent storm, the craft fair patrons and vendors did not get drenched as the rain waited until the event was over. The Andover Youth Mite 3 Hockey team faced Arlington in late February and came out winners. The Mite 3 team beat Arlington 5-3 on Sunday, Feb. 27 to take the first place spot and win the Needham Youth Hockey Tournament of Champions. The team consists of Goalie Mikey Dutton, Trevor Ring, Ryan Rigazio, Ryan Allard, Tommy Tavenner, Conan Keefe, Timmy Kobelski, Jake Brezner, Brady Quin, Lauren Fraser, Sara Carleo and Aidan Lareau, as well as Coaches Jim Rigazio, Paul Fraser and Glenn Allard.
Andover Patch reader Kristina Trott submitted this photo of a hawk defending its prey, which was a rabbit, over the weekend. The hawk apparently stayed in this spot on Bartlet Street for most of the weekend defending this apparent rabbit. It was long enough that the police were called in reference to its safety. Greenwood Road resident Mary Cuticchia submitted this photo of Chance, the rooftop "watchdog." After shoveling off a portion of the roof, a snow pile had grew tall enough and allowed Chance, a two-year-old golden retriever and chow mix, to be able to walk right up on the roof.
