How do I obtain an open air burning permit? With less than a month left to burn on your property, all those looking to burn up yard waste before the summer will have to apply for an open air burning permit at the Andover Fire Department. Just visit the Fire Department at 32 North Main Street and ask for an open air burning permit. The cost is $25 and you can recieve the permit when you visit. Burning is allowed until May 1. For a list of regulations on burning, visit the state DEP website.
How Can I Get Rid of Yard Waste? Curbside Spring Leaf Collection is now underway in Andover through Saturday June 1. Spring leaf collection begins five weeks before Memorial Day and the week of Memorial Day. Find more information on the town's website. 
Is the Rolling Green Golf Course Still Open? The Rolling Green golf course on Route 133 in Andover offers a challenging course at a low price making the area great for both beginners and the experienced. And manager Bernie Melanson says the course is now open, despite plans for a housing development on the land.  The Rolling Green, owned by Andover Country Club owners, boasts 9 holes, mostly par 3s, in West Andover only seconds off Interstate 93.  North Reading Tyson Vasipoli was playing on the course Saturday afternoon and said that the course is his go-to spot.  "I don't always play golf …
Where Can I Get Rid of My Hazardous Waste? The Town of Andover regularly has hazardous waste collection days and one is coming up this month.  The Household Hazardhouse Waste Collection will take place on Saturday, May 18 at the West Elementary School from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Please note that residents are reminded that waiting lines will not be allowed to form early. Does the Town supply residents with the sand/salt mix that is used on roads? Yes. Between storms you may bring a bucket or pail to the Town Yard on Lewis Street and fill it at no cost. Please do not attempt to come during a snowstorm as it is too dangerous for residents to fill anything while the heavy equipment is in operation. This was provided by the town's Snow Removal FAQs.
As in the event of most snowstorms and aftermath, the Public Works Department says that trash pick up will go on as scheduled on Monday morning and throughout the rest of the week. If trash pick-up is delayed, you can find out by calling the public works at 978-623-8350, and the entering 1 for rubbish pick-up. They will announce it in a recorded message at that number. Andover DPW also wants to remind residents that it is their responsibility to shovel out spots for the trash cans so they can be picked up by the town's garbage trucks.
A New England blizzard is tearing through Andover and hopefully all residents are safe and sound in their homes. But after heat, food and safety needs are met, there's nothing wrong with having a little fun. Who is responsible for clearing sidewalks in the downtown business district and other outlying areas in Town? What is going on with the construction on Interstate 93 northbound? The State Department of Transportation is managing the construction project on the side of Interstate 93 northbound to build sound barrier walls from the Dascomb Road exit to Route 133 exit. The project began this past summer and the construction is currently 46 percent complete, according to the DOT website.  The project was funded through the Federal Highway Department Surface Transportation Program and was bid out at $5,337,119.50. The project is scheduled to be complete sometime this summer.
What are the town's priorities when snow plowing? The Town's priorities are as follows: Public Safety facilities. Major arterial roads (Route 133, Route 28, etc.) School parking lots. What is happening for Veterans Day this year? This answer was provided by the Town of Andover. On Sunday, Nov. 11 the Town of Andover will be memorializing Veterans Day 2012 with three brief ceremonies followed by a luncheon at the Masonic Temple located at 7 High Street at 1 p.m. The ceremonies will be at West Parish Cemetery at 10 a.m.; Spring Grove Cemetery at 11 a.m.; and Ballardvale Green at 12 p.m. At Spring Grove Cemetery the Town will be dedicating two Veterans’ Memorials. Curbside leaf collection begins this week in the town of Andover. The collection goes until Nov. 30 but does not include Thanksgiving week. Leave are accepted only if in open trash barrels or brown paper leaf compost bags. Plastic bags are not accepted. The bags must weigh 50 pounds or less (the leaf pickup truck is different from the household trash pickup truck). Bundled branches are allowed in the weekly trash pickup (limited to two to three bundles). The twigs or branches must be bundled with tape or rope. What is Happening on the Ground Floor of the Library? Memorial Hall Library recently garnered funding for improvements to the ground floor of the library. These improvements include more seating for patrons, better display of nonfiction materials, electrical work, painting, solar shades, lighting improvements, some new carpeting, and shelving configuration changes, according to Library Director Beth Mazin. How Will the 40B Affect Schools in the Proposed Plan at Rolling Green? The developer proposing the 40B project at the Rolling Green Golf course has recently changed the project from what was originally proposed last year. It now includes 224 rental units between two buildings, varying between one, two and three bedroom apartments. What is happening at 323 Lowell Street? Developer Sal Lupoli had proposed the construction of a three-story, 30,000 square foot medical center for Partners Healthcare, of Mass General, at 323 Lowell Street in March. In April, the Zoning Board of Appeals approved the variances and the special permit that Lupoli needed to move forward with the project.
