Andover A Better Chance will mark its 45th anniversary this weekend at their annual Holiday Open House. The ABC program was established in 1967 by Andover community members responding to the inequalities in educational opportunity brought to the fore during the CivilRights movement. Today the Andover program is the longest continuously running Community School affiliate of the national A Better Chance organization. ABC will open the doors of it’s antique residence/dorm at 134 Main Street to thank current supporters and welcome those residents interested in learning more about the program and the young women who live in the house and attend Andover High School. The current scholars will be on hand to give tours along with board members and friends of ABC. Light refreshments will be served. The new Resident Director team and long time Andover residents, Chris and Dianne Caraviello have made enhancing connections to the community a priority. This past Halloween the ABC scholars organized a Halloween House Party. Caraviello estimates that over 200 AHS students came to enjoy great music and the social scene.“We’d love to see many of the parents of those AHS students come to learn about the program,” said Mary Pritchard, Board President. “The Holiday party will be a much mellower event but it will be very informative and warm.”
