More About Phillips Andover Academy
Phillips Academy in Andover is a residential secondary school that was established in 1778. The large Phillips Academy campus includes a variety of academic, sports and dormitory bulidings as well as two museums, a theatre, an Inn and a church. The school is co-ed and accepts students that dorm at the Andover campus and others that commute. The school specifically "seeks students of intelligence and integrity from diverse cutlural, racial, socio-economic and geographic backgrounds." The Phillips Academy constitution states that they will prepare "youth from every quarter" to understand that "goodness without knowledge is weak....yet knowledge without goodness is dangerous." Their motto is Non Sibi and is Latin for "Not For Self." Paul Revere included those words on the Phillips Academy original seal over 200 years ago.
