Bob French Basketball Concludes with Four Undefeated Season Champs

Andover DCS successfully concluded another season of the Bob French Basketball League on Saturday, February 8th at the Richard J. Collins Field House at Andover High School.

The Bob French Basketball League is a town-wide basketball league run by the Andover Department of Community Services (DCS) for kids from grade 3 to grade 8. Children with, or without, previous experience are invited to play in this fun, recreational league that runs from November to February with practice once a week and games each Saturday for eight weeks.

DCS crowned four teams as the 2014 Division Champions, while two additional teams split their title as Division Co-Champions.

In the Junior Boys (3rd & 4th Grade) Division, the Purple Team, led by Coach Nick Lembo went undefeated, 8-0, this season.  Team members include David Allen, Joe Ash, Charlie Buoncontri, Brody Candela, Kevin Chen, Tyler Ferguson, Chase Lembo, Ryan Mittelman, and Louis Morrison.

On the girls side of the Junior Division, the Light Blue Team were the victors and claimed the title. Head Coach Bob Moeller guided Jacklyn Brussard, Abigail Buckley, Lucy Buonopane, Lillian Harmon, Eva Liatsos, Megan Linzer, Hailey Liriano, Sara Moeller, Tatum Nelson, Morgan Nusky, Aahana Tiku, Caroline Yates, and Kathleen Yates to their perfect 8-0 season.

The Intermediate (5th & 6th Grade) Boys and Girls titles went to the Navy Blue and Maroon Teams respectively, both of whom also went undefeated for their titles (8-0). For the boys, co-head coaches Chris Damiani & Zach Martins, students at Andover High School, guided Minh-Quan Bach, Logan Carr, Tegan Carr, Shubam Khetarpal, Patrick McConnell, Shaun Morgan, Andre Pinto, Cameron Shorey, Mark Tannoury, Nicholas Valerio, and Dake Zhang to their winning season.  John Brussard, head coach of the girls maroon champs, directed Negar Aalaei, Concetta Archambault, Kallie Archambault, Chloe Brussard, Karoline Conte, Kate Gemmell, Zoe Katz, Grace Kiley, Delaney Powell, and Molly Pritchard to their trophies.

The Senior (7th & 8th Grade) Boys Division split the championship between the Green and the Navy Blue Teams.  The Green team, led by coaches Luke Washburn and Joey Spinale, were the underdogs heading into the championship game, winning the final contest by just 6 points in order to finish the season with a 7-1 record, and tie with the Navy Blue Team for the co-championship.  The Green Team was comprised of Ajaykarthik Ananthakrishnan, Alexander Barenboim, Sahil Chilukuri, Nathan Davies, Tommy Gallagher, Benjamin Hoffman, Zach Jaromin, Shawn Khetarpal, Daniel McCarthy, Matthew Potts, Omkar Savkur, and Arsh Tiku.  Navy Blue Team coach Chris Jodoin and his crew of Zachary Chinian, Jack Danisch, Matthew Freedman, Ian Jeffrey, Tate Jodoin, Brad Kesler, Christopher Marchese, Brendan Nguyen, Christopher Nyhan, Graham Scott, Alexander Weinreb, and Yanchen Zhan also completed the season with a 7-1 record, and the title of Co-Champions.

Registration for the next session of Bob French Basketball League begins in June and information will be released in the DCS Summer Booklet, sent to all Andover residents the first week of June.
