Golf Tournament Benefiting Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence on June 16

It’s time to dust off your clubs for the area’s premiere golf tournament benefiting a good cause. The 35th annual Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence (BGCL) Golf Tournament will take place on Monday, June 16 at Indian Ridge Country Club, 73 Lovejoy Road in Andover.

The event is one of BGCL’s biggest fundraisers of the year, as well as an opportunity to bid on unique experiences that can’t be found anywhere else. In addition to a silent auction, live auction items include golf for four with carts at the Golf Club of New England in Stratham, N.H.; golf for three with food and beverages on the exclusive TPC Boston; eight tickets to the Boston Red Sox vs. Kansas City Royals; two Boston Bruins tickets with a Zamboni experience and autographed Ray Bourque jersey; a Wachusett Mountain sky box package; a two-hour Boston Harbor sunset cruise with champagne toast; and In With Kids, which provides a child with BGCL membership plus a meal every night.

Those who can’t participate in the golf tournament may still show their support by attending the dinner or purchasing a golf ball – $20 each, or 3 for $50 – for the exciting helicopter ball drop. The first ball that gets a hole-in-one, or the closest ball to the pin, will win $2,500!

The golf tournament features morning and afternoon start times, meals and continuous refreshments, gifts, contests, and raffles. In addition, various sponsorships levels are available to showcase local companies while supporting the youth of Lawrence. According to Markus Fischer, executive director of BGCL, last year’s golf tournament raised $160,000 – a significant portion of the annual operating budget for programs focusing on academic success, healthy lifestyles, and community involvement for 3,400 youth members at two locations.

“It is the generosity of the individuals and businesses in Greater Lawrence that literally keeps our doors open to the city’s most disadvantaged youth,” Fischer said.

The fee is $250 per golfer, which includes continental breakfast, lunch, open bar cocktail reception, dinner, awards, driving range, greens fees, golf cart, a dozen golf balls, complimentary gift, use of pools, showers, and tennis courts, plus entry into all contests.
