Peter A. Lewis, founder of Atkinson Resort & Country Club and the Lewis Group of Companies, passed away in May 2008. To honor his memory, the golf tournament in his name benefits the organization that he held dear to his heart: the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence (BGCL), which provides critical programs focusing on academic success, healthy lifestyles, and community involvement to 3,400 youths at two locations.

Since its inception, the golf tournament has raised $125,000 to help children break the cycle of poverty. Markus Fischer, executive director of BGCL, said the funds are vital to supporting the safe, after-school haven offering hot meals, homework help, fitness and nutrition programs, college and career planning, and lasting personal relationships.

“We are very appreciative to the Atkinson Resort & Country Club,” Fischer said. “It is through such generosity that we can keep our doors open for the city’s most disadvantaged youth.”

To register, send $125 per person, or $500 per foursome, to  Sean Chipman at Atkinson Resort & Country Club, 85 Country Club Drive, Atkinson, NH  03811.
