Welcome to Hades!

Five things you need to know in Andover today.

Here are five things you need to know on Friday, July 19.

  • Hades Hot: If you thought earlier in the week was hot, wait until you step outside today. There is an excessive heat warning in place for the Merrimack Valley and North Shore. Temperatures are expected to be around 100 degrees most of the day, with high humidity and a heat index of up to 110 degrees.
  • Hot Dogs: To celebrate National Hot Dog Day Saturday, Whole Foods will have a "Hot Dog Taste-Off" outside. Go over and sample the various hot dogs.
  • Electricity: National Grid is warning that with everyone cranking the air conditioners, there may be power outages. Try to conserve electricity. If you depend on electronic medical equipment to live, such as a respirator, let National Grid know immediately if you're not already registered with their life support equipment list. Call 800-322-3223.
  • Market Basket: Here's the latest on the Market Basket CEO battle.
  • Pets: Keep your pets indoors today. Temperatures will be hazardous. And do not leave any pets in vehicles, even with windows open.
