5 Things You Need to Know Today, July 31

Before you start your day here are five things you need to know.

1. Mosquito Spraying: The Northeast Massachusetts Mosquito Control District will be spraying for mosquitos using mounted equipment on vehicles in the northeast part of town, between Interstate 93, Route 133 and the Lawrence border. They will be spraying around dusk and residents in the area are being told to refrain from outdoor activities during that time. 

2. Franciscan Overlay Task Force: The committee formed to discuss the possible uses at the Franciscan Center property will be meeting tonight at 6 p.m. at the town offices, third floor conference room A. 

3. Schools "Alert Now" Rollover: The Alert Now system for Andover Public Schools will roll-over in mid-August for all students transitioning to new schools (middle to elementary, elementary to high school). Read more on the Andover Public Schools website.

4. Duct Tape Wallet: Kids in grades 6 through 12 are invited to come down to Memorial Hall Library tonight at 7 p.m. to make their own duct tape wallets for free. Contact Kim or Clare at 978-623-8401 for more information or email at ya@mhl.org.

5. Weather: Today will bring in some patchy fog in the morning with a high of 80 degrees during the day. Tonight should bring a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms with a low of 61 degrees.
