Dig Into Reading This Summer at MHL

Memorial Hall Library's summer reading programs for children, teens, and adults.

Memorial Hall Library is celebrating reading for pleasure with summer reading programs for children, teens, and adults.  Visit the library for exciting programs, chances to win prizes, and to find great books!

Dig Into Reading

The Memorial Hall Library Children’s Room invites you to join us for a summer of fun! This summer, we will explore a variety of themes such as bugs, dinosaurs, dirt, rocks, and other “underground” things as part of the statewide summer reading program Dig Into Reading. Summer reading is a great way to keep up your child’s reading skills while having fun at the same time.  All children from birth to age 11 can participate in the reading program.  Kids can register in person at the library or register online at www.mhl.org/kids beginning Monday, June 24. Once registered, children will be able to keep track of the minutes they read and earn tickets toward some special prizes.

The teen summer reading program, Beneath the Surface, is for students entering grades 6 through 12 in September.  Pick and choose how you’d like to participate:

  • From July 1 through August 16, log the books you read online at www.readsinma.org/andover and earn prizes.
  • Be a “volunteen!”  Applications are available at   http://mhlteenroom.tumblr.com/ and are before due June 14. Space is limited so get your application in as early as possible.  This is a great way to earn community service hours while contributing to the library.
  • Attend programs.  There’s always something going on in the Teen Room.  This summer we’ll have a Robotics Workshop on July 11, Jewelry Making with Bella Beads on August 1,   Mosaic Workshop on August 9, and Manga Drawing with Andy Fish on August 19.   We will also have Crafternoons, Minecraft Mondays, Tuesday Movie Nights, and so much more!  Check our web site for the complete list of events.

Please note that teen programs are for students entering grades 6 through 12 in September.  Some events require pre-registration.
