Andover Bookstore Gets Boost From James Patterson

Store is part of $1 million grant program by best-selling author.

Andover Bookstore (HugoBooks) is one of several independent bookstores nationwide benefitting from a new grant program set up by best-selling author James Patterson.

The store has won a grant through Patterson’s Saving Bookstores, Saving Lives program. The store is one of 55 indie stores to receive a grant through an application process that was reviewed by Patterson himself. According to a report in Publishers’ Weekly, the grants can be anywhere between $2,000 and $15,000 and most meet (or exceed) what the store requested.

This first round of grants total just over $250,000; the entire grant program when fully-funded will be $1 million.
