PROFILE: Spinners Pizza Parlor Can Cater Your Party

Voted Best of Pizza in Andover/North Andover for two years in a row, this family-owned restaurant offers more than pizza and subs.

Spinners Pizza Parlor,195 Andover Street, has been a fixture in the Ballardvale neighborhood for 18 years. Although primarily known for their pizza, calzones, subs, dinner plates, soups and salads, they have also had an extensive catering menu for the past 5 years.

Darlene DiCesare owns the restaurant with her son Eric and daughter Alexandria. She said everything they serve down to the sauce, meatballs, soup and Syrian bread is homemade and made to order.

"Everything I make is the way I cook at home,' she said in describing her "kitchen".

That makes a "huge" difference to her customers, many who have been regulars since they opened. DiCesare has even seen their children grow up.

But catering is her passion, and she wants people to know that. Spinner's "Celebration" menu offers cheese trays, finger sandwiches wraps and entrees, salads, and a variety of platters; calzones, chicken fingers, chicken wings, vegetables, fresh fruit and cold cuts.

"My lasagna is my favorite," she explained. Other entrees include eggplant, chicken cutlets, sausage, pepper and onion and handmade meatballs. DiCesare also recommends the vegetable and fruit platters for the summer. For all items, customers can choose from a small or large tray or platter, depending on how many they need to serve.

"We request at least a 24-hour notice because again everything is made to order." she said. DiCesare will work with her customers in planning their order, and as with their regular menu, there is free delivery in Andover.

The restaurant is open 7 days a week during the school year, but closed Sundays during the summer. Weekends are busy with kids coming in after sports.

DiCesare pointed out that her staff is very friendly, and they work really hard to keep customers happy. "There is a lot of great food here," she said.

Spinners has weekly specials and offers coupons on their website. DiCesare said they also send out mailers with coupons.
