HP Layoffs Likely to Affect Andover Location

Hewlett-Packard is expected to layoff 27,000 employees, with the Andover location likely to be affected.

HP announced its "restructuring plan" Wednesday that includes laying off 27,000 people among the 349,600 employed worldwide. At the Dascomb Road facility in Andover, HP employs 800 people.

A spokesman at HP said that they have not yet released how reductions will affect each area but did say they will be cutting in nearly every area and business function in HP.

"We have not yet announced specific plans with regards to specific locations. We do expect the workforce reduction to impact just about every business and region," said a spokesman at HP.

HP claims that the reductions will save the company between $3 million and $3.5 million, which it will use to reinvest it in market segments where they see large growth potential, such a cloud, big data and security.
