A local developer presented a project to the Zoning Board of Appeals last week consisting of a 40B housing development to sit on the grounds of the Rolling Green Golf Course.
The Andover Apartments at Rolling Green, based off of Crenshaw Lane, presented a project last Thursday for a 40B development on Lowell Street consisting of 298 units in 15 buildings comprised of low-rise garden style and townhouse style units. A 40B development requires that 25 percent of the units be sold as affordable housing to applicable buyers.
Abutters attended the meeting, according to Zoning Board secretary Barbara Burke, and raised a variety of issues with the project including the density of the development, traffic concerns and the strain on town resources, including schools.
The Zoning Board is set to make a site visit at the end of the month and then meet again to discuss the project further.
The project also consists of a 75,000 square foot commercial storage facility and a 900 square foot retail pad site. The housing development will have amenities including a pool and activity center on the 43-acre site located on the land currently occupied by the Rolling Green Golf Course.
Management at the Andover Country Club did not immediately return a phone call for comment in regards to the future plans of the Rolling Green Golf Course.
Development on Shattuck Road
Another developer presented a different 40B project on the same night last week to the Zoning Board of Appeals. This project consists of 288 garden-style units in 5, 4-story buildings on a 10-acre site. The board will also visit this site at the end of the month and discuss the project further.
