Visions For Vacancies: What Would You Like To See Go Here?

Roughly one year has passed since Marshall's moved out of town.

Now off Route 114 in Lawrence, the Andover Marshalls had occupied a well-known anchor store unit in Shawsheen Plaza. Well, one year has passed and the store front looks as it did last March. Planning Board director Paul Materazzo said his office has not seen any permit applications for the unit or any type of action on the space.

Last year, many suggested new anchor stores moving in but things have changed. After a year and still vacant what would you like to go here or what would you like to see done with this property?

Wegmans or trader joes. The stop and shop would actually benefit from a trader joes as I would shop at trader joes then go into that stop and shop for what I could not get at tjs. As it is now I NEVER ever go in there I make the effort to go to market basket and I live walking distance to that plaza.

I live between P.A. and down town and have a hectic schedule most of the time like most folks do these these days. When I am in town it's all about convience and getting a fair deal and that's how Shawsheen Plaza use to be. When Market Basket, Marshalls & Card Smart were in Shawsheen Plaza it was one stop, reasonable priced shopping. Then it was bustling now it looks deserted & depressing. I think an affordable market or mid line shop like Macy's, TJ MAXX a smaller version of Khols or even another "version" of Marshalls that they seem to be rolling out these days would work. Not all residents in andover can afford the small expensive boutiques especially the seniors in town that are on a fixed income and most of them live within walking distance to Shawsheen Plaza. Marshalls had a little bit of everything and it was decent quality items at a fair price in a convient location. Now you have to "leave" town to find certain items at a reasonable price or shop on-line. Everyone looks for a deal these days and everyone I know from Andover shops over at The North Andover Mall since Market Basket closed. I think whatever fills that spot needs to be about quality, convience & fair pricing.
