5 Things You Need to Know Today, Aug. 28

Before you start your day here are five things you need to know.

1. Candidate Debate: The League of Women Voters of Andover/No Andover is sponsoring a State Primary Candidates Forum on Thursday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. at the Andover Memorial Library. The Repubilcan ticket for the Second Essex and Middlesex Senate District seat will be the main event, so to speak, with selectman Alex Vispoli and State Rep. Paul Adams squaring off. 

2. Teen Movie Night: Today the library is showing a movie for teens at 3 p.m. Call to see what movie will be playing. 

3. Town Government Needs You!: A new school year is starting and town government will also be ramping up. The town of Andover is looking for a number of motivated volunteers to serve on a variety of boards and committees in town. Check out a full list of vacancies on the town's website.

4. Gas Prices: Here are some of the lowest unleaded gas prices according to motortrend.com: 65 Main Street – $3.65/gallon; , 14 N. Main St. – $3.69/gallon; , 220 North Main St., $3.71/gallon.

5. Weather: Today will bring a 90 percent chance of heavy rain with a high of 85 degrees during the day. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low of 57 degrees.
