Five Things You Need to Know Today, July 2

Before you start your day, here are five things you need to know.

1.Trash Pickup: Trash pickup will be normal on Monday and Tuesday this week but will not occur on the Fourth of July. Trash pickup will be one day later after the mid-week holiday. The trash/recycling guide is attached to this article.

2. Creative Cafe: _ will be holding their Creative Cafe for adults at 3 p.m. today. This event is free and open to the public and is meant for adults who like to "knit, crochet, scrapbook, and create other portable crafts."

3. Proposed Changes to High School Handbook: The School Committee is proposing changes to the student handbook at that would exclude freshman from playing on varsity teams in hopes of decreasing the chances of hazing. Take a look a the proposed changes on the school website.

4. Board of Selectmen: The Board of Selectmen meets tonight at 6 p.m. in executive session and then reconvenes for their regular meeting. The meeting will be held in the third floor conference room A at the__and they'll be discussing the purchase of a Phillips Academy boat house and goals for the upcoming fiscal year. 5. Weather: Today should bring a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms sometime after 11 a.m. with a high temperature of 83 degrees. Tonight should also bring a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms with a high temperature of 59 degrees
