Andover at Work Open House

Have you or a child you know attended the Andover  Historical Society field trip in the past? We're always looking for
additional volunteers for this 32-year strong program and adults who
get involved end up having just as much as the children do! You're
invited to come to the Andover at Work open house on Wednesday, March
19th from 10am to noon
to learn more!

Visit the Andover Historical Society to learn about participating our 30+ year old school program, Andover at Work in the 1820s. Volunteers are needed to lead students through the Amos Blanchard house and barn museum.  Over 600 students visit the Historical Society annually.  While visiting the Historical Society, students are lead through an 1820 Federal style house by costumed interpreters.  Students grind spices in the kitchen to prepare a noon-day meal, gather eggs in the barn to trade at the store, use a historic printing press, and join a bucket brigade as part of the Friendly Fire Fighting Society.

A full training session will take place on Thursday, April 17 and all volunteers also have the opportunity to shadow a mentor.  Andover at Work in the 1820s runs most mornings 9:30am - 11:30am, from April 25 to June 15.  Volunteers should enjoy working with children, have an interest in local history, and a passion for education.
