Bid for A Better Chance

Andover A Better Chance is celebrating all things local with their second annual Valentineʼs Day online auction. The “Bid for A Better Chance” auction, hosted by the philanthropic website BiddingForGood.com, will feature an eclectic mix of items and services from over 28 local businesses including Royal Jewelers, dresscode,Shawsheen Liquors, Quiet Pleasures Jewelry, Savoir Faire Home, The Ivory Corset,Verizon Wireless, J. Christopher Haircutters and Lyn Evans Potpourri Designs to name a few. Well known local artists, writers, house painters and financial managers have joined forces with ABC to offer up art and services to bidders. Traditional auction favorites like vacation homes, sports tickets and unusual experiences fill out the roster of over 60 items. “We really wanted to give local businesses a platform to reach Andover residents and at the same time to support our program,” stated Pam Rosenberg, ABC board member and Auction Manager. “We have a fabulous mix of retailers in Andover.”

The auction can be previewed Bid for a Better Chance .  Bidding begins January 27th and closes on February 9th. Andover ABC plans to deliver all items to winning bidders before Valentineʼs Day.

Last yearʼs Bid for A Better Chance auction raised approximately $10,000.00 for the educational non-profit. “We feel it is an efficient and fun way to raise funds for our program,” said Mary Pritchard, Board President. “We also love the theme of “Give Where You Liveʼ. Participating in this year's auction allows Andoverites to support local businesses and a local non-profit with one click.”

Andover ABC provides motivated students from under-performing urban schools the opportunity to live in Andover and to prepare for selective colleges at Andover High School, one of Massachusetts' top performing schools.
