ANDOVER HIGH SCHOOL TENNIS COURTS GRAND OPENING EVENT

The Friends of Andover Tennis (FOAT) will hold a Grand Opening Event to celebrate the new Andover High School tennis courts, which were completed in October, 2013.

The magnificent new public courts are the result of Andover's decision at the 2013 Annual Town Meeting to support the renovation. Generous contributions by members of the tennis-playing community at the Friends' social fundraisers allowed FOAT to gift $40k directly to the town. The Friends are very thankful to our many contributors, especially to the Waldo Trust, and to Pfizer, Inc. and Eisai, Inc. of Andover for magnanimous large monetary donations.

The Friends wish to express our very deep gratitude not only to town Plant and Facilities, and to the town offices and school governance, but also in particular to architect Chris Huntress for his expert work on the renovation project (completed by Cape and Islands Tennis & Track), and to Andover's Art Tucker and California Products, Inc., who made an extensive in-kind donation of high-quality surface materials, so that the dream of excellent tennis courts became a reality. Andover High School's once underutilized tennis courts are now among the best outdoor hard-surface courts in the Merrimack Valley.

Our Grand Opening Event will be held at the AHS courts on Sunday, April 27th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (no rain date). This all-day community occasion will feature a morning youth clinic (ages 5-15) hosted by local pros together with the AHS players and coaches; snacks and beverages; a noon-time moment of dedication and thanks to our contributors, special attendees and honored guests; and an afternoon round robin between mixed teams of adults and AHS players.

The Friends of Andover Tennis are now also soliciting donations to assist simple repairs to the four public tennis courts at Rec Park, which are utilized heavily for clinics and recreational matches during the summer months. The Grand Opening will be  great opportunity to learn more about the upkeep of public tennis facilities in Andover while meeting with AHS team members and coaches, local pros, aspiring young players, and friends. Non-players are very welcome. A $30 per-adult player tax-deductible contribution is requested along with registration for the event through our website. Youth players may attend for free through the same registration form.

Details of scheduling and registration are available on our website, www.friendsofandovertennis.org. Tax-deductible contributions are always deeply appreciated, and can be made either by a check to "Friends of Andover Tennis Fund / ECCF" mailed to Essex County Community Foundation, 175 Andover Street, Suite 1010, Danvers, MA 01923; or by credit card through FOAT's webpage link to the ECCF secure site and drop-down menu of sponsored funds. ECCF is a charitable 501 (c) (3) organization.

Sponsored by: Friends of Andover Tennis and Essex County Community Foundation 501 (c) (3).
