Joan Leegant, Author

The Merrimack Valley Chapter of Hadassah will be hosting award-winning writer Joan Leegant, on Wednesday April 13, 2011 from 7 PM- 9 PM at Memorial Hall Library in Andover. 

 Leegant will be speaking about her new book, Wherever You Go, published July 2101 that follows three Americans in Jerusalem.

She has also written An Hour in Paradise for which she won the PEN New England Book Award, the Wallant Award for Jewish Fiction and was a finalist for the National Jewish Book Award.

Formerly an attorney, for eight years she taught fiction writing at Harvard University. Since 2007, she has lived half the year in Tel Aviv, where she is the visiting writer at Bar-Ilan University and lectures for the U.S. State Department.

Hadassah was founded 99 years ago by Henrietta Szold and is now the largest women’s organization in the U.S., as well as being the largest Jewish membership organization. Hadassah raises money for programs in both the U.S. and in Israel, including the world-renowned Hadassah Medical Organization. Donations will support Hadassah’s life changing projects in Israel.
