GoFundMe Thursday: Team Cayden

In this season of giving, we're spotlighting local online fundraising efforts.

When young Cayden Pichardo was born in 2007, he had already been diagnosed with Trisomy 18, a rare chromosomal disorder that is often terminal.

His family would eventually find joy in a Florida organization that helped Cayden go to Disney World. And now, Cayden's family wants your help in seeing that other kids have that same joy.

"He is currently tube fed and ventilator dependent but has such a wonderful personality, to see him smile makes you forget he has any issues at all!" his mother Arelis Pichardo wrote on their GoFundMe campaign.

This week's Thursday GoFundMe spotlight is on Team Cayden, raising money for Give the Kids the World Village in Kissimmee, Fla., where their family stayed for free thanks to Make-A-Wish.

"Make A Wish is a much bigger organization and their work is what got us to GKTW in the first place, we chose to focus on the smaller less recognized organization to donate to," Pichardo wrote.

All money raised will go to Give Kids the World Village. So far, Team Cayden has raised almost $800. Their goal is $1,000.
