Local Women Raise Funds for Andover Teacher With Stage IV Cancer

A teacher at a local daycare with diagnosed with Stage IV cancer. You can help ease the burden.

When Melanie Scharn and Megan McCann heard their friend was recently, and suddenly, diagnosed with Stage IV cancer, as with many, they felt helpless and knew they had to find a way to help.

McCann started an IndieGoGo crowd funding campaign for Tammy Jusczak, a toddler teacher at the Bright Horizons Daycare center at Brickstone Square in Andover.

The For the Love of Tammy Jusczak page is here. Jusczuk, who is a 42 year old single mom to a 15-year-old boy, remained calm, as they wrote on the crowd funding page, the financial hardship is "taking its toll."

"We are here to do the work that she can't right now as she must focus all of her energy on fighting this awful disease. She's had to take an extended leave of absence from both her full-time and part-time jobs. Her sources of income are depleting quickly due to co-pays and out-of-pocket medical costs associated with her aggressive treatment."

With the page live for about a week, McCann and organizers have raised about 15 percent toward their goal of $1,400.
