The trip to ER!

The trip to ER
There comes a time for all of us parents when we will take our lil ones to ER. Its only a matter of time. Be it a URI, UTI, slip and fall, broken tooth or broken bone. We will all have to go through that. This test of love and caring for a young one isn’t an easy one. It’s a test by fire. Or a test by ER visits that is.Well my emotion of sadness today comes for our last night trip to ER.The usual slip and fall, hitting the side of the head on a protruding metal. If only he wasn’t running, if only he would stop playing, if only that metal wasn’t there that moment. But stars were aligned, so off he went running and slipped at the destined place, fell, and had a deep gash on his right forehead. My heart always skips a beat every time when I hear his cry with a fall. I ran to him, saw the wound and the doctor in me simply said ‘we need to go to the ER’. The mom in me on the other hand was so sad, so guilty that I couldn’t stop this from happening just by foreseeing it and wishing it away. I was feeling hopeless for not having a magic wand to wield away the adversity coming towards my young one. Why?The answers are in us, takes a night of healing inside and out to get to the answers, next day when the adversity has come and gone. The answer is - because we are mortals. We must fall and learn.
Kids. They fall and learn. They learn to be steadier; they learn to be better, they learn to be more careful.
We both learnt our lesson.
As his mom I learnt to keep a more close eye on him no matter what.
He learnt never to go back to Maxxi again (He fell in T.J. Maxx!)
