Andover Fire Announces Citizens Academy

Andover Fire Rescue is accepting applications for those who are interested in participating in the 2012 Citizens Academy.  The Citizens Academy has been established to allow for citizens of the community to get a more in depth look at the organization and learn more about the services that Andover Fire Rescue offers.

The Citizens Academy is a multi-session program that begins on Monday September 10, 2012 and continues each Thursday evening for the subsequent nine week period.  A special “hands-on” session is also scheduled for Saturday October 13, 2012 from 9am - noon.  Each evening session is scheduled to begin at 7pm and end at approximately 9:30pm. All sessions are to be held at the Andover Public Safety Center located at 32 North Main Street.

Participants are urged to participate in the entire program and will learn about the history of Andover Fire Rescue, its Emergency Medical Services Program, Fire Prevention and Code Enforcement issues, apparatus maintenance program, required fire/EMS training, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, and will tour all fire facilities and the dispatch center.

The program will be capped off with a graduation ceremony for those who participate in the entire program.

The program is open to any Andover resident 18 years of age or older and is offered free of charge.
