It's been a long shift for Andover firefighters.
Thursday night one of the Andover engine units battled a huge fire on South Broadway in nearby Lawrence. Then early Friday morning a cellar caught fire on Fosters Pond Road back in Andover.
There was smoke but no flame visible when units arrived at 4 Fosters Pond Road this morning at 6:47, Deputy Chief Al DelDado told Patch. The fire apparently began in the cellar and was contained to that area.
Firefighters had the blaze under control within 30 minutes. They're still investigating the cause, but early indications are it was accidental, DelDado said.
One firefighter slipped and fell on the ice that quickly formed in the frigid temperatures. The extent of the injuries weren't immediately clear.
