A former Andover Police officer plead not guilty Friday to motor vehicle charges in conjunction with an alleged hit-and-run accident in Tewksbury nearly a year ago.

Evan Robitaille, 32, of Groveland, was released on personal recognizance after an appearance in Lowell District Court Friday, according to a report in the Lowell Sun.

Robitaille is charged with operating under the influence - alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage and a state highway violation.

According to the report, Robitaille was allegedly involved in an accident on Route 495 in Tewksbury on March 11, 2013. He was later put on paid administrative leave from the Andover Police Department following an internal affairs investigation and resigned in November of 2013.
