Mopeds, ATVs Causing Havoc on the Roadway

The following are excerpts from the log. The log is open to the public.

Monday, Aug. 27

At 10:30 a.m. a caller reported a hit and run on Summer Street. He said that his motor vehicle was struck by a truck that took off afterward.

At 2:49 p.m. a caller reported three teens riding mopeds on Rutgers Road. The caller said they were riding in the roadway and not allowing cars to pass. An officer searched the area with negative results.

At 3:03 p.m. a caller reported fireworks being set off in the area of Holt Road.

At 6:02 p.m. a caller reported a motor vehicle that hit a street sign on Elm Street. The highway department was notified.

At 10:08 p.m. a caller reported that she was walking her dogs when two ATVs sped by almost hitting her on Chester Street. An officer checked the area with negative results.

Tuesday, Aug. 28

At 8:11 a.m. a two-car accident was reported on Dascomb Road. No injuries were reported.

At 11:40 a.m. a walk-in visitor reported vandalism to political signs on High Vale Lane.

At 12:01 p.m. police arrested Fernanda Caldeira, 33, of 200 Massmills Drive, Apt. 409, Lowell, on Clark Road. Caldeira was charged with the unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and an equipment violation.

At 6:38 p.m. a caller reported that someone stole the bike rack off of the back of his car on Rock Odundee Road.
