Multiple Gun Shots Reported in South Andover

The following are excerpts from the Andover Police log. The log is open to the public.

Sunday, Dec. 30

At 12:10 a.m. a caller reported a car that hit a tree on Route 125 near Wilmington. No injuries were reported.

At 4:14 a.m. a caller reported a down wire near the Andover Sportsman Club in Harold Parker State Forest.

At 1:52 p.m. police arrested Gregory J. Peters, 35, of 16 Fairmeadow Road, Wilmington, on Campanelli Drive. Peters was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and an equipment violation.

At 2:43 p.m. a caller reports that the dog that she was walking was attacked by two other dogs on Marion Avenue.

Monday, Dec. 31

At 1:30 p.m. a caller reported that she hit a car parked at CVS and left a note on the windshield.

At 2:43 p.m. police arrested Kenny Mercado, 20, of 108 Sunset Ave., Lawrence, on North Main Street. Mercado was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license and a number plate violation.

At 3:19 p.m. a caller reported witnessing a hit and run on Stevens Street. The caller had copied down the plate number and gave it to police.

At 5:37 p.m. a caller reported a minor car crash with no injuries on North Main Street.

At 9:42 p.m. a caller reported hearing gun shots in the area of Blueberry Hill Road. An officer checked the area but did not hear anything.

At 9:42 p.m. a caller reported hearing gun shots in the area of the South School on Woburn Street. An officer checked the area but could not locate where the noise was coming from.

Tuesday, Jan. 1

At 1:36 a.m. police assisted state police with a motor vehicle accident with no injuries on Interstate 495.

At 3:08 p.m. police arrested Francis William Barrett, 49, 21 Windsor St., Haverhill on Interstate 495. Barrett was arrested on a previous warrant (which was speeding and possession of a class D substance).

At 5:46 p.m. a caller reported that his mailbox on Avery Lane has been knocked over and there are also car parts on the ground nearby.

At 8:15 p.m. a walk-in visitor to the police station reported that her boyfriend took her car and that she wants to report it stolen on Tewksbury Street.

At 9:09 p.m. the Fire Department responded to a possible chimney fire on Olympia Way. Firefighters found no fire at the scene.
