New Jersey Woman Rides Atop Train

The 22-year-old was charged with trespassing and taken off the train in Andover.

Police arrested a New Jersey woman who was hitching a ride on the top of a train.

The incident took place Monday at 9:19 p.m.

It's not clear what kind of train the woman had jumped. Andover's police log states that the MBTA reported a woman was riding on top of a train. However, a T spokesman referred questions to the MBCR, the agency that runs the commuter rail. The MBCR said the incident did not happen on one of their trains.

It may have been a freight train. Officials at Pan Am, which runs freight along that section of Andover's tracks, said it would be a week before they could release any information because the person who would give it was on vacation.

Whatever type of train it was, the police report said the conductor had the woman and was looking for help. Police went to 50 Burnham Road, which is near an access point to the tracks, and arrested Alexandra Ricciardelli, 22, a homeless New Jersey woman. She was charged with trespassing.
