State Rep.'s Son Charged With Domestic Assault

The following information was supplied by Andover Police. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The son of State Rep. Jim Lyons is charged with assaulting a family member after an incident Wednesday morning at their home.

At just before 9 a.m. Wednesday, police received a call about a domestic dispute involving Michael Lyons, 20, of 12 High Vale Road, Andover.

Several officers went to the scene, and police said Michael Lyons allegedly fled upon hearing about the call to police. State police assisted with a K-9 unit and were able to track him and apprehend him.

Lyons is charged with assault and battery of a household member.

This is the latest tangle with authorities for Michael Lyons. Last year, he was summonsed for cocaine possession after a vehicle accident in which the driver -- Lyons' friend -- was charged with driving drunk. In 2012, Lyons was charged with underage drinking at a party on Buchan Drive.
