State Trooper Accused of DUI Crash in North Andover Suspended Without Pay

Dale Jenkins reportedly crashed his 1965 Corvette, severely injuring his passenger.

A Massachusetts State Police trooper accused of drunk driving in a bad crash in North Andover Saturday has been suspended without pay.

Dale Jenkins was drunk when he crashed on Route 114 early Saturday, severely injuring a passenger, police said.

The Eagle-Tribune identified the passenger as Gerard Letendre, 53, of 7 Olde Farm Lane, North Reading. The Tribune also reported Jenkins was driving his 1965 Chevrolet Corvette during the crash.

Jenkins was charged with OUI and carrying a gun while drunk. Police he had his own handgun inside the vehicle.

Jenkins, a member of the gang unit, has been with State Police for 14 years.

State Police said they will continue to monitor his case and "re-assess his duty status when appropriate to do so."

"State Police condemn all instances of impaired operation," Col. Timothy Allen said in a statement.
