Two State Troopers Injured After Traffic Stop Friday

State Police are charging the men with assault on police officers, drug possession and fireworks possession.

Two State Troopers were injured after a traffic stop Friday night.

According to Fox 25 TV Boston, Spokesman David Procopio said the troopers stopped the vehicle around 9 p.m. Friday on Route 93 after determining that the operator's license was suspended.

Propcopio said the suspects, men ages 20 and 22, were also transporting fireworks and in possession of narcotics when they were stopped.

According to Procopio, one trooper suffered an eye injury during the assault and the other suffered a shoulder injury. Both were treated and released from Lawrence General Hospital.

Both suspects were taken into custody but their identities have not been released by the State Police.

They are charged with resisting arrest, assault on police officers, possession of drugs and illegal possession of fireworks, according to State Police.
