Woman Goes Into Labor on I-93 in Wilmington

The woman was transported to Winchester Hospital after pulling over near Exit 41.

Wilmington firefighters assisted with a woman who went into labor on Interstate 93 on Tuesday afternoon.

Massachusetts State Police officers were on scene before 1 p.m., according to scanner reports, after childbirth was described as imminent on I-93 South near Exit 41 in Wilmington near the Andover town line.

According to scanner reports, Andover and Wilmington firefighters were among those who responded to the scene. The expecting mother was transported to Brigham and Women's Hospital.

The mother was re-routed to Winchester Hospital, according to the Wilmington Fire Department, where she gave birth to a baby girl six minutes after her arrival in Winchester.
