Woman robbed at Gunpoint on Main Street

The victim was leaving work at the time.

A woman was robbed at gunpoint on Main street Thursday night, police said.

At around 9:30 p.m., police received a report that a woman had been robbed on Main Street near Lark Street by two males, Andover Police Sgt. Steven Gerroir said.

"She works in town, she had left work and was walking to her car when she heard two people running up behind her," Gerroir said.

The victim described the suspects as wearing black jeans, black hooded sweatshirts and masks.

The suspects reportedly fled down Locke Street with the victim's purse. The woman was not injured.

Police have not found the suspects and are still investigating the robbery. Robberies in downtown Andover are rare, Gerroir said, but police are urging people to use caution and be vigilant when walking downtown at night.
