Former State Rep. Candidate Running for Selectman

election season is underway.

A couple days after Andover Selectman Mary Lyman announced she will not seek reelection, a candidate for that board is emerging.

Banking industry executive Kevin Cuff, a 2012 candidate in the Essex 17th District state representative race, has pulled papers to run for the Andover Board of Selectmen, according to Andover Town Clerk Lawrence Murphy.

Cuff ran for state representative as an unenrolled candidate but lost that race to Democrat Frank Moran. The Essex 17th District consists of several precincts in Lawrence and Andover as well as one precinct in Methuen. Although Cuff won a narrow majority of votes in Andover, Moran made up for it with large victory margins in Lawrence.

Cuff serves as executive director for the banking organization Community Mortgage Lenders of America Inc. He previously served as executive director of the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Association.

Locally, Cuff serves as a member of the Andover Housing Partnership Committee and coaches youth sports.
