Lyman Announces She's Stepping Aside

There will be a vacant Board of Selectman seat in this year's election.

Selectman Mary Lyman announced Monday night that she will not seek reelection this year.

Lyman cited her work -- she works in event coordination for Greater Lawrence Family Health Center -- as a primary reason for stepping aside, saying it was difficult juggling her career, her family and the Board of Selectmen.

Lyman has served as selectman since October 2001, when she was appointed to fill a vacancy. Before then, she served on the School Committee in the 1990s and was Andover's human resources director.
