Andover Home Sales Increased in June

Does this represent a local real estate boom?

Following a statewide trend toward a rise in real estate sales, Andover saw a spike in single family home sales in June, compared with June 2012, according to The Warren Group.

There were 63 single family home sales in Andover in June, up from 33 in June 2012. That represents a more than 90 percent increase. But oddly enough, year-to-date sales in June were down. As of June year-to-date single family home sales were 147, down from 152 in June 2012.

Home prices saw an impressive increase. The medium home price in June was $555,000, more than 7 percent from June 2012. Year-to-date medium price has seen an even higher increase of more than 11 percent.

Statewide, single family home sales increased for the second consecutive month and spiked to the highest level in three years, signaling a real estate boom in the Bay State, The Warren Group report says.

"The housing market continues to boom locally, and nationally," The Warren Group CEO Timothy M. Warren Jr. said in a statement. "As long as mortgage rates and home prices don't spike too high, we'll see a very strong recovery year for the market in 2013."
