The six finalists are:

  • Sara Adam, Andover High School
  • Alison Barker, Danvers High School
  • Rachelle Bassett, Peabody Memorial High School
  • Carolina Maldonado, Salem High School
  • Cait Ofiesh, Beverly High School
  • Kera Warren, Lynn Vocational Technical High School

Cakes for Occasions asked participating schools to invite members of their senior class to apply to take part in the competition. Candidates needed to write a short essay to “explain their love of baking and why they would be the best to represent their high school at Cake War.” They also completed a candidate biography sheet.

Cakes for Occasions reviewed the candidates and chose one finalist from each school who will now battle in Cake War.

The competition kicks off at 10 a.m. and the finalists will spend the next three hours making their masterpieces. The public is invited to attend, cheer on the students and get free slices from the finalists’ cakes between 1 and 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Cakes for Occasions will post the six cakes on Facebook by 2 p.m. Sunday. Cakes for Occasions' Facebook fans will vote for their favorites. Voting will take place until noon April 14. The winning senior will win desserts for their senior all-night party or prom.

Peabody Veterans Memorial High School senior Kimberly Sousa’s cake was the top vote-getter in last year’s Cake War.

Cakes for Occasions is at 57 Maple St., in Danvers.
