Andover High School class sizes have seen a drop in students over the last four years, according to a new report by the school district.

The most recent figures show that an average classroom consists of 23.1 students — a drop from 24.8 students in 2010.

Although more than 50 percent of the schools’ course selections have less than 24 students, the AHS report shows that band has an average of 29 students.

School officials say that class sizes have decreased in:

  • English
  • Social Studies
  • World Language
  • Physical education
  • Performing Arts

While remaining steady in:

  • Math
  • Science

And increasing in:

  • Health

The missing part of this story is..."how many Andover kids went to Private School during the period measured". My guess is a lot!! My guess is that more kids went to Private School than moved in to the District.
