POLL: Should Andover Teachers Take on Another Class?

This week's local poll addresses the main issue in the Andover teachers' union contract.

The Andover Education Association has been negotiating with the town for close to two years now and the sole issue that remains is the high school schedule. Teachers currently teach three classes in the first half of the year and two classes in the second half. In the second half, teachers are currrently assigned a duty, such as parking lot watch or hallway monitor, to occupy the third class' time slot.

The School Committee is proposing that teachers teach a third class during the second semester, citing the fact that most comprabable school districts with block schedules require the same of their teaching staff.

While the town and union work through , what do you think about the high school schedule for teachers? Tell us why in the comments section below.
